This adapter pulls the audio out of an ARC-enabled HDTV and converts it down to a simple 2-channel analog stereo signal, so you can feed it into an older receiver, amplifier, or a pair of headphones that don't understand HDMI or ARC directly. It handles PCM 2.0, Dolby 5.1, and DTS 5.1 sources, downmixing all of them to stereo, and it passes CEC through so your TV remote can still control the volume on the connected gear.
