Description
Blackmagic Design's Ultimatte 12 8K is a real-time chroma key compositing processor built around Quad Link 12G-SDI, supporting everything from current HD workflows up to native 8K at 4320p60. It's aimed at broadcast, news, sports, and film productions that need a dedicated keyer per camera rather than sharing keying resources through a switcher, so each camera's green screen can be tuned individually. Built-in frame stores let a production run a virtual set without a physical background or external rendering hardware.
- Quad Link 12G-SDI for native 8K: Supports all video formats up to 4320p60, while remaining compatible with SD, HD, 3G, 6G, and 12G-SDI equipment.
- Dedicated per-camera keying: Each camera gets its own Ultimatte 12, tuned to that camera's specific view of the green screen.
- Built-in frame stores: Loads pre-rendered still backgrounds directly, so a virtual set can run without live video sources for every input.
- Layer compositing for translucent objects: Adds tinted glass or CG objects over the foreground with realistic transparency that talent can walk behind.
- Shared processing engine across the line: Every Ultimatte 12 model uses the same advanced algorithms and large internal color space for identical composite quality.
