Softron OnTheAir Video 4 is broadcast playout software for the Mac, built for TV stations, information kiosks, and live event operators who need a reliable automated playlist engine rather than a live-switching tool. It mixes and matches codecs, frame rates, and file types within a single playlist, and its scheduler can run playlists 24/7 for days at a time without operator intervention. Because it's AppleScriptable with XML-based playlists, it also integrates into existing broadcast automation and traffic systems rather than replacing them.

• Multi-format playout: Plays ProRes, AVC-Intra, DNxHD, H.264, HEVC, MPEG-2/4, MPEG IMX, and XDCAM footage, along with still images and audio, mixed in the same playlist.
• 24/7 automated scheduling: A built-in scheduler runs playlists prepared weeks in advance for unattended, round-the-clock playout.
• Dynamic graphics overlay: The optional Dynamic Graphics Overlay lets logos and animated graphics be composited over any clip in a playlist.
• Broadcast-grade extras: Supports embedded or SRT-sidecar subtitling (CEA-608/708, OP47) and SCTE-35 ad-insertion triggers.
• NDI and direct streaming: Outputs over NDI, and with the Streaming Pack option can stream directly to YouTube, Facebook, Twitch, or an RTMP/Wowza server without an added video card.
• Remote and traffic integration: The Remote Pack option adds web-browser control and a media browser, while the Traffic option imports playlists from systems like Wide Orbit.
